Why give Favours?

Gratitude comes to mind. Hen it comes to parties, wedding and showers, favours mean gratitude. You’ll want to thank your guest for coming and sharing your special day.

Favours also known as bomboniere, these were traditionally given to the ladies who attended the wedding and consisted of tulle containing 5 almonds. Each almond signifies health, wealth, happiness, long life and fertility. Much has changed since then and there are many things you can do to create an interesting favour or bomboniere for your guests.

The best way to start is to figure out what you want your bomboniere to do. Do you want your guest to eat it, drink it, would you want them to keep, use it and do you want to personalise them with your wedding date.

Next thing you need to do is get a little creative. For something different, create a "Who's Who" book of all your wedding guests; compete with a photo and a mini biography about them. Not only is it original it will help everyone get to know each other.

Nowadays it’s quite easy to have a CD created including a cover with the new couple and wedding date on the front. It’s a fantastic keepsake that everyone will enjoy.

For something a little less formal place chocolate hearts that are beautifully wrapped in foil across the table. This idea will save you time and money and will still be appreciated by your guests.

One romantic bomboniere idea I heard about is giving a candle coloured to match the theme used in the wedding. Attach a note with a message such as this, 'Whenever you light this candle, remember our special day, for we enjoyed your presence, More than words can say".

In the end don’t stress out over your bomboniere and favours. There is no law that deems it necessary to give favours it is only a nice gesture to thank your guests for attending. As well it's not necessary for your favour to last forever.
